First double page spread

This Kerrang double page spread is featuring Fall Out Boy. The layout is simple so that the writing is basically taking over the left hand side of the piece and the photo is used as a background and fully seen on the right hand side. This picture is taken in a black and white setting as this style is very indie and typical of a rock magazine. Another statement colour to go with the black and white theme is red, this shows anger, love and a sense of sexiness. A pug has been used to show a competition, red has been used on the black and white photo to draw readers attention to the pug by contrasting the colours, also this colour has been chosen to give the feeling of love, to win the competition playing on the readers feelings. White writing is used on this pug to standout. The pug has been specifically placed here to make sure the reader sees it when they turn the page, and no standard human being would read a magazine backwards, really. The main headline is big, dynamic and powerful. it is used in quotations to show that it is a quote from the band, this will draw readers attention to the bold statement and make them want to read more about it. The first word of the quote, 'ANYTHING' has a block colour of white with what it looks like red spray paint or blood across the dominating half of the word, this is to show the power and. Different sizes of font have been used in the headline to have more effect on the reader. The sub heading is in a much lower sized font, this is to give an insight to the interview. The first word-'EXCLUSIVE' has been written in red to grab the readers attention, this tells them that here they have an exclusive story that no other magazine have and would make the reader want to read that magazine. The photo has been taken from a low angle to look up to the band whilst doing 'their thing' this makes them look iconic and higher than the readers interested in them. It shows their popularity and fame.
