Analysis of 2nd front cover!

The wording on this magazine is very simple, the main word is ROCKS as it is in big red font witch takes up the whole bottom line of the page so this catches the readers eye and especially because it is in red it draws them in. The colour gives the feel of the magazine and links with its genre, it gives us an insight also into what is in the magazine. The strap across the is in different font so that it stands out, it is on a plain black background with white writing also so that it stands out. It is mearly advertising the magazine.

The layout of this front cover is very simple and straight forward, this is because the main focus is the photo. Other features on the page are highlighted by using white and red block colours , to contrast from the black and grey photo.
The genre of this magazine is obvious due to the colours used; red, black and white. Red represents love and passion, which amounts to this seductive cover. Black fits in well for this genre, it is usually associated with gothic and indie themes. In complete opposition to black, the white is its contrasting colour which makes it stand out well. The reason these colours have been used together is so the overall feeling is dark and gloomy, with highlights of red and white. The mood of this colour is sexy and edgy. This would obviously attract the core audience of men.
The main photo and only photo used would also attract and draw in males, this sexy photo of singer Cheryl is very edgy and risky. The red lips represent love ans passion which also work with the colour scheme of the magazine which is red and black. The use of her tongue shown in this photo plays on a very attractive and sexy vibe. Plain, and obviously, wet hair works well as the makeup is quite heavy. This is done so the balance is kept and men focus on the oral area, making them want to see more photos like this and would obvsiouly be drawn in to read more.
