Guitar and Speaker-Contents page photo analysis.

The structure of this photo will be used in my contents page. Though the quality is bad and also the lighting. I like the style of this photo because its just simple, the contents page photos in my magazine don't need to be interesting as such as the layout will be quite interesting and quirky. Also because of the lighting, which is just natural sunlight, the colours of the props look very faint and boring.

Target Audience

This is Kara, she is an example of my target audience. She is 19 and currently interested in fashion photography and partying. Her types of friends include boys in bands and her best friend Jolie, is the lead singer in a band 'Pulp'. She currently lives in the inner city of London with her best friend in a studio apartment, where she has lived for 7 months. She took an art and photography course at LCF but unfortunately quite due to plagiarism in the first term she had to leave. Her parents weren't happy about this but let her stay at her apartment to focus on photography, her parents have never been really concerned about her well being as such as they both work full time for major companies and never had time for her, this was upsetting for her growing up and probably caused her to want to be different in the sense of style and personality. She likes to shop in Topshop, though she will only shop in the boutiques as she hates to be seen in something some one else is wearing. She occasionally shops in charity shops and when she does she isn't embarrassed. She wears heavy makeup when going out at night time, but sticks to casual rock chick makeup during the day.

Kara doesn't have the best reputation, she has had multiple boyfriends whom she has slept with, though she claims she loved them all. And so people tend to judge her, though her friends know she is a caring affectionate person. She doesn't like to look too nice to people as she doesn't like to trust many people, this is because of her troubled past. She only keeps few people close as she knows everyone will eventually leave. She loves loud nights out and eating kebabs. She does like her alone time though, she listens to music constantly, this is her only vice, along with Tic-Tacs, she could eat Tic Tacs for England. Her favorite artists include: Kasbian, Paramore, MGMT, Friendly Fires, Kings of Leon, Maroon 5, Artic Monkeys and Greenday. This are her daily listens, though when out she likes to go to clubs that play trance, dance and house.

When she isn't photographing, out, or hanging about with Kara, she's probably at home watching TV with a tub of Ben and Jerries on her bean bags. Her favorite TV programmes are Friends, Skins, Take Me Out, Lost and Eastenders. She also loves to watch Never Mind The Buzzcocks but doesnt enjoy it as much as Simon Amstell left. Her favorite male celebs include Simon Amstell, Luke Pasqualino, Johny Depp and Liam Gallagher. Kara is a good exaple of who i want my target audience to be.

Maslows Hierarchy Of Needs

Maslow's hierarchy of needs is a theory in psychology, proposed by Abraham Maslow in his 1943 paper 'A Theory of Human Motivation'. He created it to show human innate curiosity. It is shaped as a basic pyramid, with a standard wide base at the bottom, representing basic human needs such as food and water, and towards the top showing human self actualization and the ability to be individual. The lower four layers of the pyramid contain what Maslow called the 'deficiency needs' if these needs are not met the body gives no physical indication. Most of media advertisiting is based around this. This gives us as the audience what we need which is shown by the top three sections of the pyrmid, shwoing that if whatever were looking at looks creative and not broing showing us that we need something busy and creative to find it remotly intresting. This has been copied from wikipedia.

Third double page spread

This double-page spread consists of a main photo, and big title, sub heading and text. The photo really portrays the personality and attitude of the band, the dark colours used show the danger of the band, they are all wearing masks which keeps their identities from being seen. This means they could be embaressed of their looks or just dont want the havock of any one seeing who they really are-kind of like batman. Their tattoos are stereotypically a symbol of strength and meaning, this is a typical rock style. Thy have their hoods up to again keep their identities hidden. Black is stereotypically used as the colour for indie/rock. The same colours are more or less used throughout, these are black and white, mainly shows the darkness and doom, this is the common stereotype for rock music. Purple and orange have been used for the sky, this compliments the black and white tones and highlights them infront of the orange/purple. Their masks are all diffferent, they are each showing their different personalities. They are all looking into the camera and downwards which makes them look superior, like they are stronger than us, this shows their idolisation and fame.

The whole image of the band is used as the background and writing is over the top, the layout is simple, yet very interesting. The left side is used to show the photo, the band, and the right side for writing, the interview. White font is used to stand out on top of the photo so that no text box is needed. this works well
